What are the hazards of improper design of curtain wall electric window openers?
1. The aluminum alloy material used for opening windows is assembled into a complete set of window frames and sashes in the factory according to the standard process and structural safety requirements of the curtain wall industry, as a unit structure with corners and angles, and signed into a specific project. When dealing with problems, we often see that some engineering drilling frames do not use corner production technology, or the four sides of the frame material are transported as bulk materials to the construction site, and the installation of the drilling frames is completed through non personal bulk packaging on site. The aluminum alloy fan frame with only windows is produced using workshop bending technology. Afterwards, the corners of the project's perforated frame often showed misalignment and light leakage (transparent), and the inner diameter of the frame changed. In addition, the combination size of aluminum alloy fan frame and window frame has changed, the stress situation of stainless steel hardware lock points related to windows has changed, the gap between door locks has changed, and the specific method has changed, etc. These series of changes may lead to the overall decline of window sashes.
2. Hardware used for opening curtain wall windows. Generally speaking, there are two parts to selecting hardware for activation. One is the load-bearing stainless steel hinge structure for opening, and the other is the lock structure with safety closing function. Any improper procurement of a component will determine that there is a problem with the structure of the window sash.
① Material selection: Stainless steel open hinges should be made of stainless steel material. If there is no strict acceptance during material selection, or if the provided material is indeed stainless steel, defects in the hinge structure (do not carefully observe inevitable cracks) can lead to the life cycle of the project, gradual corrosion and cracking of bolts, etc;
② In terms of safety, the window lock point should be a redundant point structure (at least 2 points), and some projects still use the most common single point structure (commonly known as a seven character handle). The materials for this structure are actually cast aluminum with molds. This material structure only has one claw. Frequent occurrence of detachment and loss of safety function due to inadequate performance and installation under external forces; Some items are opened in combination. The page suspension structure is actually made of cast aluminum. The material castings are sufficiently dense or have not undergone rigorous structural stress calculations. During the lifecycle of a curtain wall, the entire opening of the window sash may fall due to hinge breakage or other reasons.
3. If the curtain wall of a project is opened when the window sash is open, we may notice how many open window sashes do not have trays at the top. This issue should never have occurred. According to the Chinese "Technical Code for Glass Curtain Wall Engineering" JGJ102, there are strict requirements for the setting of trays on the day of its release, so I won't go into detail here. Perhaps some open window sashes are indeed equipped with tray structures at the top of the glass, but the tray structure does not drag the length of the cantilever. The innermost piece of glass still has the glass structure for turning on the fan. We are in an absolutely unsafe state and may fall in real time.
4. For some glass curtain wall projects, the construction drawings of consultants and construction companies were deepened during the bidding process. They have all taken safety measures by setting up edge sealing around the open glass, but due to inadequate structural considerations and lack of specific workshop production experience, the safety edge sealing structure cannot achieve true safety. Due to the use of structural sealant in the insulating glass itself, and the fact that the aluminum alloy bonding structure will never be on the same plane and straight line, the resulting glass may pose a safety hazard of falling.
Some project renderings are indeed very beautiful. At first glance, there are no safety hazards. Open the construction process diagram and take a look. The glass curtain wall of the entire project is not only the specific glass structure, but also the window sash glass. It also adopts large and small component structures. For this structure, the risk of glass falling may occur in real time.
6. Some projects may never know how to solve the structural safety issues of window sashes, so it's simplified
Without hesitation, indirectly bond the glass panel to the aluminum alloy window frame. Knowing that this structure is absolutely unsafe, I did it. Moreover, some projects use opening frame materials that cannot be installed according to the construction drawings, so they cannot meet the long-term wind and rain sealing performance. It is said that due to poor consideration, not only safety issues but also functionality will be affected.
